Sportsbet bonus bet terms, clause by clause: nine clauses, one $50 token

Sportsbet publishes its bonus bet rules as one help-centre article, Bonus Bet Offer Terms & Conditions, dated 3 March 2026 and split into nine numbered clauses. This page goes through them in order, quotes the lines that move money, and works each on a $50 token. It's a reading of the general terms; a specific offer's terms override them, and Sportsbet's help centre says it doesn't offer promotions for signing up.

Clause 1: general

The terms apply to every offer "involving a bonus bet awarded to your Sportsbet betting account". Clause 1.3 sets the hierarchy: where the specific offer's terms conflict with these, "the specific terms will prevail". Clause 1.5 is the one to note: Sportsbet "reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to apply restrictions … on which a customer may use a Bonus Bet … at any time, including after a Bonus Bet has been credited".1 A token's usable markets can shrink after it lands.

Clause 2: eligibility

2.1: "Unless Rule 6.1 applies, Offers are not available to residents of ACT, NSW, WA and SA, and, where the Offer relates to opening an Account, Victorian residents." 2.3: over 18, an account, compliance with the General Rules, an Australian resident who isn't an excluded resident. 2.4: an offer runs until the stated expiry in AEDT or any earlier date Sportsbet notifies. 2.5: "Each Offer can only be accessed once by each Eligible Entrant."1 The NSW page covers why the state list exists.

Clauses 3 and 4: bet match and deposit bonus

Both are bonus bets "equal to or otherwise calculated by reference to" a qualifying bet (3.1) or a qualifying deposit (4.1), "capped to a certain amount". Both clauses carry illustrations marked "hypothetical only".1

Tokens arrive "within 24 hours, but usually much sooner" (3.4, 4.4). Clause 4.5: "Deposits made via Cash Card and BPAY will not trigger the Deposit Match offer." The deposit match page works the cap arithmetic further.

Sportsbet's terms are the only ones of the three that print the cap arithmetic inside the document; TAB's are the most fully numbered. The comparison lines all three up.

Clauses 5 and 6: access and use

5.1: the token shows under "Bonus Bets" in the account. 5.2: redeem it by selecting "Bonus Bet" in the slip, or by phone on 1800 990 907 where the offer allows. 6.1: it can go on any market with the bonus bet drop-down. 6.2: "must be used within 7 days from the time that it is credited to your Account unless otherwise stated". 6.3: otherwise "void and unable to be redeemed". 6.5: not transferable. 6.6: "must not be used in conjunction with any other offer".1 The help centre adds the mechanics: leave the cash stake box empty, and the expiry is shown under Bonus Bets after clicking your balance.4

Clause 7: winnings

7.1: "Should your Bonus Bet be successful, only the winnings from the Bonus Bet will be credited into your Account. This means that your winnings will exclude the initial Bonus Bet stake. For example, a winning $50 Bonus Bet placed on a selection paying $3.00 will credit winnings of $100 into your Account. The $50 Bonus Bet stake will not be returned."1

Clauses 8 and 9: other conditions, excluded bets

8.1: offers are for "bona fide Account holders … who place bets with Sportsbet for the purpose of recreation and entertainment". 8.2: "Professional gamblers or other gamblers considered by Sportsbet management … to be abusing this Offer may have their right to participate in the Offer revoked." 8.3: the offer can be cancelled or changed at any time during its period. 8.4: "The decisions of Management are final. No correspondence will be entered into." 8.5: staff and agents excluded.1

9.1 lists the excluded bet types: tote multis, combo multis "containing a mix of both fixed odds … and tote legs", each-way bets, and tote singles.1 The help centre's plainer summary: "bonus bets are able to be used on most markets aside from Tote Multiples (Quaddies, Super 6, Daily Double, Treble, Running Double)".

From the help centre: turnover, splitting, sign-up, Jet Boost

Turnover. "If you deposit $50 you'll need to bet $50 before you can withdraw the balance"; the Withdrawable Balance at the top of My Account shows what can leave now, and verification is required before any withdrawal.5

Splitting. Up to ten parts from preset options, each token split once.4

Sign-up. "Sportsbet do not offer any promotions upon signing up and creating an account. There are also no promotions offered for referring a friend."6 Tokens come from weekly specials, personalised offers to members opted in to marketing, and free-game prizes.

Jet Boost. Racing only (Australian and New Zealand thoroughbred fixed-odds singles); the boosted portion is paid in bonus bets; a void bet forfeits it; cashing out forfeits it; a minimum boost is guaranteed.7 Power Plays and bet returns can't be combined with a bonus bet stake.

Sportsbet's terms weighed up

Where the terms are good

  • One dated document, nine numbered clauses.
  • Worked cap examples in 3.3 and 4.3 and a payout example in 7.1.
  • Ten-way splitting.
  • The shortest excluded-bet list of the three.

Where they cost

  • The longest state exclusion list: ACT, NSW, WA, SA, and VIC for account opening.
  • Markets can be restricted after a token is credited (1.5).
  • "Decisions of Management are final" (8.4).
  • No sign-up promotions at all.

My verdict

Sportsbet's bonus bet terms are the easiest of the three to read end to end, and the examples inside them mean you can work out a cap without a calculator. What they can't do is give you an offer if you live in ACT, NSW, WA or SA, and they don't promise a token for opening an account anywhere. If you hold a Sportsbet account in another state, use tokens within seven days, as singles or fixed-odds multis, and never on a tote multi. The comparison shows how TAB and PointsBet differ.

Questions punters ask

Do Sportsbet bonus bets return the stake?

No. Clause 7.1: a winning $50 bonus bet at $3.00 credits winnings of $100 and the $50 stake is not returned.

How long do Sportsbet bonus bets last?

Seven days from the time they're credited (clause 6.2), unless the offer says otherwise; after that they're void (6.3). The expiry shows under Bonus Bets when you click your balance.

Who is excluded from Sportsbet offers?

Residents of ACT, NSW, WA and SA, and Victorian residents for account-opening offers (clause 2.1), plus Sportsbet staff and agents (8.5).

Does Sportsbet give a sign-up bonus?

Its help centre says Sportsbet does not offer any promotions upon signing up and creating an account, and none for referring a friend.

What can't I use a Sportsbet bonus bet on?

Tote multis, combo multis mixing fixed odds and tote legs, each-way bets and tote singles (clause 9.1); in practice, most markets other than tote multiples show the bonus bet button.

Can I split a Sportsbet bonus bet?

Yes, into up to ten parts from preset options, and each bonus bet can be split once.

How much do I need to turn over at Sportsbet?

Each deposit once: deposit $50, bet $50, then the balance can be withdrawn. Winnings sit in the withdrawable balance immediately.
